“When can I wear my swim goggles after having fat transfer around my eyes?” This is not a post operative question I’ve given much thought to until recently.
Fat transfer to the face is a very common procedure these days. Fat cells are harvested from another area of the body and then strategically injected into facial areas, most commonly around the eyes, cheeks and jawline where fat loss often occurs. The fat harvesting can be done as an isolated procedure or in combination with a liposuction procedure when Dr. Chris is doing body shaping of the abdomen, hips or thighs. Once injected into the face, the newly positioned fat cells will need a new source of blood supply to survive. This is why it is so important to harvest the fat with very little trauma to the fat cells and to re-inject micro droplets of fat which provide more surface area for rejuvenation.
This brings me back to when swim goggles are permissible after a fat injection procedure around the eyes. I’m not sure anyone knows the answer to this question for sure but if the goal is to restore the volume and vitality of youthful appearing eyes, it’s probably wise not to disrupt the rejuvenation process by putting suction cups on the eye area for at least 3-4 weeks.
