When Your Bra No Longer Fits:
Dr. Christine Sullivan Plastic Surgeon Columbus, Ohio and the Sullivan Centre decided to start a program collecting bras for local women in need. When the idea arose to collect gently used bras, we knew that we found the perfect outlet to help women in need. Since our daily work conversations often include the word breasts, we have no shame in asking patients and community members for gently used bras. The initial response was overwhelming and convinced us that this is not only a cause worth supporting, but one worth continuing. Bras For A Cause is now a permanent staple at The Sullivan Centre. We have collected over 2500 bras.
The bras collected are donated to the Salvation Army to support victims of human trafficking and Women Affirming Women, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting low income women achieve economic stability and independence. Bras are collected Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30 at The Sullivan Centre at 7706 Olentangy River Rd Columbus, Ohio 43235.
“I believe the cause is so successful because it’s just so simple. People don’t know if they should donate undergarments, specifically bras. But honestly bras are expensive. “ said Tracey Conforti Bras For A Cause Coordinator. For a lot of people bras are a luxury. That is why The Sullivan Centre Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Centre Columbus, Ohio is more than happy to do its small part to collect gently used bras that may mean a lot to one person.
