Tummy Tuck, Liposuction or CoolSculpting?
Today a mom of twins came into Sullivan Centre to meet with Dr. Christine Sullivan to discuss her abdomen and a potential tummy tuck. Growing two babies took its toll on this new mom. In addition to being sleep deprived and feeling like her world had been turned upside down this new mom was upset that after 4 months of breast feeding her pre-pregnancy jeans still don’t fit. Sometimes it’s our job to try to help new mom’s navigate the reality of their post-pregnancy bodies.
Pregnancy is a magical time in a woman’s life but no one ever tells you how your belly may feel and look following delivery. Some women are blessed and bounce right back but the norm is a very different story. According to Dr. Christine Sullivan, “It takes 9 months to gain weight and grow a baby and it should take a minimum of 9 months to lose the weight. “
What happens when you lose the weight? One of two things:
- You can put on the pre-pregnancy clothing and feel great about wearing your old favorite jeans.
- You are left with excess skin and or fat that zaps your confidence.
Obviously the solution to number 2 will depend on a number of factors. You may be a candidate for liposuction, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), a mini- tummy tuck (mini- abdominoplasty) or CoolSculpting. The good news is that all of these options are available at Sullivan Centre. Dr. Christine Sullivan will help you navigate the process and recommend your options. Dr. Chris will make certain you are with the appropriate weight and in a good place in your life prior to surgery.
