Why have breast asymmetry correction surgery?
- To achieve symmetry in your breast size
- To better fit into bras
- To better fit into clothing
- To avoid the use of prosthetic breast inserts
- To feel more confident
Most reputable, board certified plastic surgeons prefer not to perform cosmetic surgery on a young woman before she turns 18. She turns 18 she can sign her own permit. However, due to the reconstructive nature of this procedure, exceptions are made based on the physical and mental maturity of the patient. In general, the best surgical results are obtained when surgery is performed a minimum of two years after the onset of their period. At that point in time, the breasts have usually achieved stable growth.
Surgery for the correction of breast asymmetry may involve one or more procedures. After examining you at your consultation, Dr. Christine Sullivan will discuss your individual options for correcting breast asymmetry.
At The Sullivan Centre, we always put safety first. Our ambulatory surgical center has been licensed by the State of Ohio and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We have achieved a near zero percent infection rate. Furthermore, we only use board certified anesthesiologists for all of our operations.
The breast asymmetry correction procedure is performed at The Sullivan Centre and will take approximately two to three hours under anesthesia. The breast asymmetry correction is performed on an outpatient basis; therefore you can recover in the comfort of your own home. Most women can return to work in one week and can resume normal exercise in a few weeks.
All individual pre and post-operative needs will be discussed with our nursing team during your comprehensive pre-operative appointment.
You will most likely be tired and sore for a few weeks following surgery. Specific recovery will depend on the exact nature of the surgery and the procedure(s) performed. Most women are able to return to work after one week and resume exercise after four weeks. The nature of the procedures necessary will dictate the outcome however most women can expect to experience:
- Improvement in self confidence
